Psychodynamic Therapy in Minneapolis–St. Paul

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

At times, people find themselves caught in emotional or relational patterns that persist despite insight or effort. You may feel stuck in relationships, struggle with anxiety, depression, or the effects of past experiences, or have a sense that something important is shaping your life beneath the surface, even if it is difficult to describe.

This is a place to understand what hasn’t changed — and why.

I offer depth-oriented psychotherapy for adults and couples in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. Therapy provides a space to slow down, speak freely, and develop a fuller understanding of the inner forces shaping one’s experience.

Therapy can offer relief from immediate distress, while also creating space to understand the deeper emotional patterns that shape one’s experience. As this understanding develops, change often feels more stable and meaningful over time.

My work is grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic thinking, with an emphasis on careful listening, emotional depth, and attention to patterns as they unfold in relationships and over time.

When Therapy May Be Helpful

People often seek therapy when:

  • Patterns in relationships feel repetitive or difficult to change

  • Anxiety, depression, or self-doubt persist

  • The effects of past experiences or trauma continue to shape the present

  • There is a sense of disconnection from oneself or others

  • Life transitions bring unexpected distress

  • Something feels unresolved but difficult to name

You do not need to have a clear problem to begin. Therapy is a place where understanding can develop over time.

Whom I Work With

I work with adults and couples from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. I have particular experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples and aim to offer a space that is attentive to identity, relationships, and the complexity of lived experience, without assumption or expectation.

My practice is also well suited to individuals who are thoughtful and reflective, including therapists who may be interested in their own therapy.

About Me

I am a psychoanalyst in private practice in Minneapolis–St. Paul, with advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. In addition to my clinical work, I provide supervision and consultation to therapists.

In the consulting room, I aim to offer a thoughtful and steady presence that supports reflection and genuine engagement with emotional experience.

Getting Started

Beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. You do not need to be certain about what you are looking for in order to reach out. An initial consultation offers a space to think together about whether this kind of work may be helpful.
